John was raised on the mean streets of Marin County . Being a thoroughly brain washed middle class kid , he put aside his paint brushes and marched dutifully off to the University of California attaining a degree in physics just like his proud mother wanted. But then during the Summer of Love , he turned on, tuned in and dropped out becoming just another starving artist living in the Haight Asbury. His art education was the San Francisco Public Library devouring every art and art history book available. Figurative work with a strong narrative themes prevailed at this time. But then struggling with a carpal tunnel situation ,lack of self esteem and lack of money, he once again put his paint brushes in the closet again. He then got married and tried too become a normal human being , moving to the midwest where normal people abound. Twenty years later after making a pile of money in the real estate game, he returned to his first love, art. Two solo shows in Indianapolis followed. His parting gift to this Gulag of a town was a major show at the Indianapolis Art Center centered on the Iraq war. Now living in Santa Fe for thirteen years , he paints daily, trail runs and plays with dog, Fargo. Now at last ,he is at home in this high desert land.
