John was raised on the mean streets of Marin County.

Being a thoroughly brain washed middle class kid, he put aside his paint brushes and marched dutifully off to the University of California attaining a degree in physics just like his proud mother wanted.

But then during the Summer of Love, he turned on, tuned in and dropped out becoming just another starving artist living in the Haight Asbury.

His art education was the San Francisco Public Library devouring every art and art history book available. Figurative work with a strong narrative themes prevailed at this time. Think illustrations for Samuel Beckett.
